Darklink profile vs actual chat: check the transition
A completed profile shows that a character was saved. A relevant greeting shows that the opening fits part of the setup. Neither, on its own, demonstrates accurate continuity in the next conversation.
Our DarLink session on October 25, 2026 used Mara Lake, a fictional adult librarian. We saved the character, opened its private profile and sent nonsexual museum prompts. This article follows those different checkpoints rather than treating the whole experience as one pass or fail.
The profile checkpoint
Under My AI, the saved character was marked Created by You and Private Profile. The age and visible selected details matched the fictional adult configuration we had prepared. This let us confirm that the builder had produced a saved character associated with the test account.
It was not an anonymous-access test or a privacy audit. The labels did not establish every data-processing or access-control property of the service. We did not share or publish the character to test a wider audience.
The greeting checkpoint
The opening referred to reshelving returns, which was consistent with choosing Librarian. That was a useful role connection. It did not show whether every personality or relationship choice would persist across unrelated situations.
Read a greeting for assumptions as well as tone. Does it presume a relationship you did not intend? Does it decide your actions? Does it introduce an immediate problem you can respond to? A fluent opening can still require revision if it leaves you no meaningful turn.
The conversation checkpoint
We introduced an adult museum-volunteer scene about a missing map-display label and asked for a clarifying question. The reply added an east-wall location without that location being in the prompt.
We corrected the display to the west door, specified a printed paper label and supplied the title Harbor Routes, 1924. The next response used that location and title but introduced assumptions about a desk drawer and adhesive. A correction being accepted did not make the rest of the answer fully grounded.
| Checkpoint | What our observation supports | What remains unproven |
|---|---|---|
| Saved profile | Character creation completed and labels were visible | All privacy and authorization behaviour |
| Role-related greeting | The opening connected to the selected occupation | Persistent adherence to every persona choice |
| Corrected reply | The next answer used the corrected location and title | No further invented context |
| Recall attempt | We reached the next planned check | A recall result: access stopped us first |
Use a fact list instead of a broad memory verdict
For a continuity check, write down the facts that matter before sending the prompt. Compare the reply against that list, marking additions separately from corrections. Decide whether each addition is welcome creativity or a conflict with the task.
If you want invention, allow it deliberately. If you want a practical step based only on known information, say what is unconfirmed and inspect the answer for newly assumed resources. The distinction changes the evaluation, even when the underlying character is the same.
Our next attempted recap did not receive an answer because a free-message gate appeared. We therefore have no completed DarLink recall result from that attempt. Describing that limitation is more useful than inferring a capability from a test that never ran.
